Starr Boggs started his career as a chef/restaurateur here on Eastern Long Island 27 years ago at the Inn at Quogue. Since then Starr has manned a number of local favorites including The Patio and 23 Sunset Ave., the first location of Starr Boggs.
Starr grew up on a farm on the Eastern Shore of Virginia where his family raised just about everything they ate. From this upbringing, Starr gained a lasting appreciation for fresh, local ingredients and a genuine commitment to community. Eastern Long Island is very similar to the eastern shore with regards to climate and availability of fresh, local produce and seafood.
Starr continues on with his philosophy of using fresh local products of the highest quality in every dish he creates.

Some dishes are decidedly Eastern or Asian in origin but enhanced with Western influences. Toku is a magnificent Modern Asian restaurant owned by Gillis and George Poll. It is located at Americana Manhasset, Long Island's most impressive shopping destination. Toku's minimalist and simple design was created by Bentel & Bentel Architects, award-winning designers of The Modern at MoMA. It integrates the architecture of a 19th century Japanese home with 21st century modern elements. In the dining room, a wooden trellis captures the soothing ambiance of a Japanese garden. High-tech panels crown the sleek and reflective ceiling absorbing the sounds of merriment. The spacious bar is topped with gorgeous illuminated white onyx that gives off a warm, inviting glow. Wooden bells from 19th century mainland China hang above the sushi bar while suspended sake drums, behind the bar, add a sense of jubilant ceremony. Toku's window facade completely opens for warmer days allowing a gentle breeze to flow into the bar and lounge area.
